Railfanning San Diego County in Summer 2019

Throughout the Summer of 2019 I did several railfanning outings around San Diego County that resulted in a fairly sizeable backlog of videos. I've uploaded several clips from these outings in previous videos, but the ones in this video have remained unseen until now. Surfliners and Coasters make up the bulk of these clips, with a couple shots of the BNSF Daygo thrown in as well. These include some of my first captures of Amtrak's SC-44 Siemens Chargers, which had just replaced the F59PHIs on the Surfliner. Little did I know at the time that these would also be my last shots of the Coaster's F40PHM-2Cs before they too were retired. In a way, these clips document a unique moment on the Surfline where old and new motive power served alongside each other.

Come along as we chronicle the transition between two eras on the Surfline in the pre-COVID days! Locations include Sorrento Valley, the BNSF yard in downtown San Diego, Harbor Drive, Noel Street, the Avenida Encinas overpass in Carlsbad, and Carlsbad Village.
