Einar Steen-Nøkleberg (b. 1944) is a Norwegian classical pianist and musical pedagogue.
He made a sensational threefold public debut in 1970 with three separate recitals on the piano, harpsichord and clavichord. He studied with Nicolai Dirdal and Hans Leygraf, and also counts his organ studies with Arild Sandvold as an important influence. He was appointed professor at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover from 1975 to 1982, and professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music from 1982. For forty years Steen-Nøkleberg has performed with orchestras in Norway and abroad, and he has won numerous awards including a German higher education institution award (1969), the Norwegian piano competition (1972), the Norwegian Music Critics’ Prize (1975), the Lindeman Prize (1982), The Grieg Prize (1992), and in 1994 he was made a Knight, First Class, of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav.
