Childo Tomas (electric bass, vocals)
Ernesto Simpson (drums)
Leandro Saint-Hill (saxophones, flute, percussion, vocals)

Although he has always kept one foot firmly rooted in the traditions of his native island, this citizen of the world demonstrates an insatiable curiosity, tirelessly exploring music from the Caribbean to India, and from West Africa. to the Arab world. This diversity of experiences and this sense of openness are reflected in the fabulous “afrocubano” quartet, where Childo Tomas (bassist from Mozambique) rubs shoulders with Ernesto Simpson (drums) and Leandro Saint-Hill (saxos, flute, percussion, etc.) . A celebration of rhythm in all its forms, an Omar Sosa concert always presents itself as an intense, total experience, some would even say mystical!

Since leaving Cuba in 1993, Omar Sosa has pursued a unique musical path, blending his Afro-Cuban roots in jazz, hip hop, electro and various world music. For this new project, the sound explorer has invited other musicians with whom he begins a permanent instrumental dialogue in concert by improvising.

Attending a Sos concert is like entering another dimension where, to the rhythm of music from afar that he distills with his keyboard or his songs, the spectators end up entering into communion, not to say in a trance space of an evening.

On the piano or the Fender Rhodes, Omar Sosa navigates here between sensual jazz ballads, subtle grooves from southern countries and traditional Afro-Cuban rhythms. For this new reinterpretation of Afro-Cuban music, the quartet has invited Cuban percussionist Pedro Martinez, American guitarist Marvin Sewell, Cuban saxophonist Yosvany Terry and the great Eladio “Don Pancho” Terry to chekeré. The 14 pieces chiselled by the pianist also give pride of place to voices with the presence of flamenco singer José “El Salao” Martín and American poet-rapper Kokayi.
