About Grace Lee:
GRACE LEE is an independent producer & director and writer working in both narrative and non-fiction films. She directed the Peabody Award-winning documentary AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY: THE EVOLUTION OF GRACE LEE BOGGS, which The Hollywood Reporter called ”an entertainingly revealing portrait of the power of a single individual to effect change.” The film premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival where it won its first of six audience awards before its broadcast on the PBS documentary series POV. Her previous documentary THE GRACE LEE PROJECT won multiple awards, broadcast on the Sundance Channel and was called “ridiculously entertaining” by New York Magazine and “ a funny but complex meditation on identity and cultural expectation,” by Variety.
Recently, she has been organizing for a more racially just and equitable media landscape with Beyond Inclusion: a BIPOC-lead collective of non-fiction makers, executives, and field makers: https://www.bipocmakers.com/

ABOUT DAVID MAGDAEL:
With over two decades in public relations/marketing for award-winning documentary films, indie features and broadcast content, David Magdael and his company DAVID MAGDAEL & ASSOCIATES have become an important leader in the entertainment field. From Oscar® awards campaigns to theatrical releases to streaming launches and film festival debuts to broadcast premieres, Magdael is one of the top go-to media strategists in the industry. He’s a longtime member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and is the Co-Director of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival since 1997. He has served as a mentor at the Sundance Institute Docu Producers Lab, Film Independent, IFP, SXSW, and other media/filmmaker organizations sharing expertise and knowledge with filmmakers and content creators. He founded the Asian Pacific Filmmaker Experience in 2004 to celebrate Asian Pacific American filmmakers at Sundance every year. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for the South by Southwest Film Festival and speaks on a number of panels, talkbacks and discussions from film PR, inclusion, representation, distribution and strategic planning for films through an array of media arts groups and film festivals including Sundance, CAAM FEST, AFI Docs, AFI Fest, SF Film, Hot Docs, TIFF, NYU, UCLA, USC film schools and more.
Recently, Magdael and his colleague Vince Johnson established a virtual cinema platform during pandemic in 2020 entitled OPEN YOUR EYES & THINK MF to support films and filmmakers that may not fit within the current distribution/exhibition system. The goal is to provide access to films and filmmakers that are challenging and changing the landscape of truth telling and story creation. These filmmakers include BI-POC, LGBTQ + and other content creators who are on the margins or feel that they are under-represented. OYEATMF provides exhibition opportunities, resources and the creation of meaningful discussions for and by filmmakers who are challenging us to think! The first OYEATMF film release was the award winning MR. SOUL! with over 90+ cinema partners screening the film virtually and still in virtual cinema going on month 8 with over 25 cinema partners. Recently, OYEATMF produced, hosted and presented important film and historic online discussions and talkbacks including "The Filipino Filmmaker Take Over at SXSW 2021," "The Asian Pacific Filmmakers Oscar Contenders," and “Digital Citizenship: How Did We Get Here and What’s Next?"
In addition, Magdael is a Co-Executive Producer for 76 DAYS; Associate Producer for PIER KIDS, RAMBLIN FREAK and MR SOUL!; and an Executive Producer for DROPS IN THE OCEAN. www.dmagpr.com
