Sri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao was born on 4th December, 1922
in Choutapalli Village in Gudivada Taluq of Andhra Pradesh. His Parents are Sri Suryanarayana
Rao and Smt Ratthamma.

His training in Music was started first under the guidance of Sri Patrayani Sitarama Sastry and
later joined Maharaja Government College of Music and Dance, Vijayanagaram.

He started his Musical Journey as Chorus Singer in Seetha Rama Jananam. His first film released
as Music Director was Keelugurram. He was Versitile Singer and Music Director with many many super hits. His
Padyam rendition is incomparable and unparalled.

His Partriotic, Devotional, Private songs, Bhagavatgeetha and Pushpavilapam are very popular.

He left this World on 11th February, 1974.

He was honoured with Padmashri
by Government of India. The Government College of Music and Dance in Vijayawada was named after Sri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao. In 2003, a postal stamp was released on Sri Ghantasala.

Born in a histrionic family of Artists Mr. D.V. Mohana Krishna took to Music from childhood. By dint of inspiration drawn from Sangeeta Vidwan Sri Sistu Prabhakara Krishna Murthy Sastry of Machilipatnam, from whom, he had the preliminary training in vocal Carnatic classical music he was later trained by Padmavibhushan Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna in the Guru Kula System intensively. His total focus was so much on GURU’s voice and teachings that he never even thought of learning Braille to compensate his visual impairment. His world was totally MUSIC and nothing else. With keen interest to follow the footsteps of his renowned teachers and to serve the music world in a more befitting, meaningful and significant manner as a traditional vocal artist of rare type he pursued light classical music and light music.
#Training in Music
He had his preliminary training in Carnatic Classical Music under Sangeeta Vidwan Sri Sistu Prabhakara Krishna Murthy Sastry of Machilipatnam.
Later he was fortunate to be chosen to be trained staying with him for several years in Carnatic & Classical Music from Chevalier, Dr. Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna in the Guru Kula System which is almost extinct now.
This chosen disciple was well trained in 72 scales and 35 talas of Carnatic Music and became equally proficient in classical and light music by the supreme grace of his Guru Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna. Thus it proved to be a unique GURU-SISHYA combination.
