Clickbait Title: I Found Another Way to Talk About Breath of the Wild

Heyhihello. I recently listened to a podcast where people talked about narrative design that I've been thinking about for the better part of a half-year now, cause it's a part of video game production we oft don't think about. How do these developers marry the game's systems and gameplay verbs to the story in a way that feels cohesive? I've been thinking about making a video on this subject for a while, but the moment finally arrived after I played a LOT of pokemon challenge runs in my spare time, and reflected on the difference in storytelling between Pokemon gens 7 and 8 (and then I started thinking about Breath of the Wild again, cause I LOVE THAT GAME SO MUCH). So, here's that video. An exploration of how the narrative design of some of Nintendo's largest series had to change to fit into the new, open worlds of the Nintendo Switch. Hope you enjoy!
