GEMINI NANO
So right off the bat here we see that Gemini Nano is finally being released for the base model of the Pixel 8 and the more affordable Pixel 8a as well. This was a feature that was initially launched for the Pixel 8 Pro and Galaxy S24 Ultra, so it's nice to see they were able to bring it to these devices as well.

I already have a video showing how to enable it via the Developer Options area, too, which I'll be sure to link to down in the video description below.


RECORDER SUMMARY
So, if you have a device that has Gemini Nano support, then you will be getting access to the Summarize in Recorder feature. This is available via Google's own Recorder application and it enables more detailed, downloadable summaries. You can view these summaries inside of the application, or export them into a text file. . .or your Google Doc account.


EXTERNAL DISPLAY
After the June 2024 Pixel Feature Drop has been installed, the Pixel 8 series will be able to display content on a TV or external monitor when connected via a USB-C cable. Many people are expecting this to be the first step to a Desktop Mode for Google Pixel devices, but we will have for an official announcement before we know for sure.


POWERLESS FIND MY DEVICE
The new Find My Device network that Google is still rolling out to everyone, is getting a nice upgrade that allows you to locate your smartphone even after the battery has died and the phone has powered down. This even has the added promise of keeping your location data encrypted and private from Google's own servers.


ENHANCED HDR+ PHOTOS
When using HDR+ on your Google Pixel device, this update promises to be better about identifying the best moment. The improved frame selection feature should be smarter as it tries to look for both open eyes and smiling subjects in the frame.


QUICK NUMBER LOOKUP
Google's built-in Phone application is receiving an update in the June 2024 Pixel Feature Drop that adds in a Reverse Phone Number Lookup option. That way you can quickly check who is calling by looking up the phone number from within the application.


CAMERA LENS PICKER
The Google Pixel camera application is also receiving some love in this update, by allowing you to choose which lens you want to use when you go to take a photo. This way, you aren't forced to use the lens that the Pixel Camera app picks for you based on how you are zoomed in or out of the subject.


CAR CRASH DETECTION
Google Pixel Watch 2 owners will be gaining a new feature that tries to detect if you've been in a car accident. We've seen this on Pixel phone hardware already, but it's now being expanded to their wearable line.


GOOGLE WALLET PAYPAL
Google Wallet is gaining the ability to link your PayPal account so smartwatch owners can now choose to pay with this account using their watch.

Pixel Watch owners are also getting access to your Google Home Favorites with just a swipe. With the ability to control smart home devices directly from your wrist.

PIXEL TABLET
Google Pixel Tablet owners are also getting some love with the June 2024 Pixel Feature Drop.
When the tablet is docked in Hub Mode, you'll receive snapshots of who is at your door with the options to talk through the smart doorbell speaker. . .or sending a Quick Response. All from the your Pixel Tablet.


GOOGLE HOME WIDGET
And last up, we have the new Google Home Favorites widget, which will give you quick access to compatible smart home devices directly on your phone's home screen. Be sure to check out the quick, customizable controls from your smartphone or tablet.
