Origin: Introduced on the album Subconscious-Lee.

Style: Swing, usually played at up tempos.

Form: A1-A2-B-A3 (32 Bars) [8-8-8-8]

Key: C Major

Harmony/Overview: This composition is based on the changes to Cole Porter's "What Is This Thing Called Love?". The chords are however generously reharmonized, with many added extensions and upper-structures throughout. The melody is also very angular and includes some especially modern rhythmic and melodic concepts, especially when considering that is was composed in 1949. The line provides great insight into the school of players such as Lee Konitz and Lennie Tristano.

Recordings: The first recording comes from Lee Konitz's 1955 release Subconscious-Lee, and he would go on to record the tune multiple throughout his career. Since then it has been recorded on nearly 50 separate occasions by many different musicians.
