"After more than 2 years since my last Beatles arrangement, (I released "Yesterday" in June of 2019) it's finally time for another! If all goes as planned, it will be a much shorter wait for the next one!

Many, many years ago, while I was still completing my undergraduate degree, I arrived to sight-singing class on a "brisk" Arizona winter morning. It was about 50 degrees and you could see the steam rising from my morning Starbucks... a rare sight in Arizona. A graduate student was teaching this singing course, and I had been assigned as her pianist for the semester. In typical Charles fashion I was early... so early on this particular morning that I had more than 15 minutes alone on the upright piano in the classroom. I was just playing around, improvising here and there, and for some reason came upon Across the Universe as I was musically "walking" through harmonies. Since that morning, around 15 years ago, I have remembered what I played. I even performed this arrangement at a small concert 2 years ago from a lead sheet I had quickly written up.

This past month I finally got around to notating the sheet music and making a real recording. This is the first Beatles arrangement of many more to come, I hope you enjoy!"
