Alyssa Reid: Alone Again

Alyssa Reid performed at the CHUM FM Fanfest, Friday May 9, during Canadian Music Week 2014

Beginning at the piano, Alyssa played her Gold single from 2010, “Alone Again,” using Heart’s power ballad “Alone” as a jumping off point. Wearing skintight black, the singer-songwriter brought a contemporary feel to an already iconic anthem, controlling the stage and the crowd with a confidence and maturity that belied her 21 years of age. She’s already a pro.

Alyssa began her career by appearing on the singing competition The Next Star in 2008, at age 15, eventually becoming one of 6 finalists. That experience, and the notoriety gained by her Youtube rendition of a Justin Bieber song, garnered Alyssa a record contract with Wax Records in 2010. Since then, she has seen two albums and four singles hit the Canadian charts, two singles certified as Gold.

She has also charted Gold records as a featured artist, recording with Jesse Labelle and Virginia To Vegas. Nominated for JUNO Awards and MuchMusic Video Awards, Alyssa received a SOCAN Urban Music Award in 2012.
