http://www.PinOaksFarm.com ...in this video we are sharing how we plant pumpkins one row at a time using a John Deere 494A planter.

By removing one seed bin and adding a make shift work station and funnel, the seeds can be hand dropped into the funnel and down the seed tube and then the closing wheels and press wheel takes care of the rest.

The pumpkin seeds are so large and odd shaped that they will not go through the planter any other way. This winter I will be building custom seed plates that we are hoping will do the job without doing it the way we are here.

Even though this process works, it's one row at a time and very slow going. Our plan is to our other 494A planter and make it a 2 row pumpkin planter that will work like a planter should.
