Swine Restraint Tools for the Veterinary Technician

Описание к видео Swine Restraint Tools for the Veterinary Technician

This video goes over the basic, and most common, 3 restraint tools found in general practice for swine. Starting with a pair of sorting boards, we go over how to effectively use them to herd a pig into the corner of an enclosure to confine them within the pig boards. Kendra also goes over a couple of useful tips for holding the pig boards for the best outcome. The second tool we go over is the snare. Sliding over the nose and upper jaw, we want to be sure to seat the snare behind the canine teeth to ensure we have a safe and effective hold on the pig. Finally, we chat about the use of a scratching fork! While not effective for the type of pig we are working with in this video, they are highly effective for pet pigs that are used to lots of handling and belly scratches. They are a great way to get them calm and settled for a physical exam and sometimes you can even do more!
