Welcome to the Oriah Festival of Wancho & Nocte Tribes - Ep 2 from Arunachal Pradesh!!

13th April 2023 - Today, we are on our way to Chasa Village in Tirap district in Arunachal to attend the famous Oriah festival. Festivals are a great opportunity to learn about the diversity of the state and also its rich culture. Oriah festival is primarily celebrated by the Wancho tribes but there are a few Nocte villages that fall in Tirap district that celebrate Oriah festival. We are going to see both Nocte and Wancho tribes in this video, both tribes share similar ancestral migration routes, if not the same. Both Nocte and Wancho tribes used to be headhunters in the earlier days. Although headhunting has been banned now, festivals give them a great opportunity to showcase their rich culture and tradition to the outside world.
