My Reality

Never did I think I'd end up this way
Going through the motions every single day
Phoning in my life is the best that I can do
While the days go by I'm trapped and I wait for a breakthrough

Never did I think I'd be stuck in the mud
In up to my neck, buried in the sludge
Wishing for a landslide to tumble down and fall
So I can close my eyes while it ends my life once and for all

I sit on the sidelines and watch life pass me by
I see others around me gettin' on with their lives
I'm sure they have problems behind the pretty scenes
But I'm more sure than not that they haven't got an idea of what it's like to be me

Year after year, it's like I'm cursed
I'm done with tryin', that just makes it all worse
I'm giving up now because my hope is wearing thin
My hands are tied, my brain is fried and I'm so tired of living like this

Lord, now what have you done to me?
It's bordering on cruel now, there's no way out
Lord, now you know this isn't what I planned
I know my life is in your hands, I see no way out
I sit in disbelief in my reality
Can't believe what's been done to me
With the cards I've been dealt
I see no way out
