This is a 40 GB drive, but I still find it interesting. It still has that look that seagate started with medalist drives of a few GBs in the late 90s, and I believe it was the higest capacity drive to use this design, as the next series, the Barracuda ATA IV (Which my opened 40GB drive is one of), just looks like a modern drive. It still uses ball bearings and has seeking which while getting less noisy is still easily audible.
Somehow, there's videos of Barracuda ATA, ATA II and ATA IV but I did not find one of a ATA III.
This drive was ridiculously shipped, in a giant box with 6 other drives and a bunch of IDE racks, with NO shipping material at all. Yet it still survived with only a few slow and reallocated sectors. And while I think the bearings sounds a little bit annoying, I don't think they are bad as they are not very loud.
