I follow my sister Kathryn as she attends her first NHS screening mammogram, and speak to retired breast cancer surgeon Dr Liz O’Riordan, who’s had breast cancer three times herself. We talk through what breast screening involves, who it’s for, and why it could be life-saving.

This video is about routine breast screening for people with no symptoms — not investigations for a lump or other breast changes. If you’ve noticed a change in your breast, don’t wait for screening — speak to your GP.

The info here is based on the UK’s NHS Breast Screening Programme, but it will be useful wherever mammograms are offered.
