The variegated Alocasia Frydek has been (and still is) my dream plant back when a single corm would cost upwards of $200 USD. My first corm came from my friend, Jenn, and I'm forever grateful. I'm so happy these rare houseplants are more accessible now so that more people can enjoy their beauty!

Care for Alocasias may seem daunting, but in my experience, it comes down to good lighting, higher humidity, and consistent soil moisture. These houseplants make the perfect candidates for self-watering pots. If you are nervous about or are new to Alocasias, I do recommend caring for the non-variegated versions first before exploring the more expensive variegated varieties. This will give you a feel for the plant's preferred conditions in a low-stakes setting.
