Let's Change Diodes in a Boss Hm-2 ! Exploring tonal possibilities with the Swedish Chainsaw!

Описание к видео Let's Change Diodes in a Boss Hm-2 ! Exploring tonal possibilities with the Swedish Chainsaw!

Welcome to the Pedal head show!

-Enjoy the tonal exploration of changing clipping diodes in 2 sections of the Boss Hm-2 Circuit.

Changing Diodes are a simple modification that can be done to almost every over drive and distortion pedal that uses an op amp or pre amplifier integrated circuit.

The Boss Hm-2 is a mix of a few boss and fuzz favourites.
Op amp distortion, to soft clipping asymmetrically, ( like a boss SD-1)
to a noise gate with two diodes in circular fashion cutting out noise and mid frequencies below 700 hz creating cross distortion, and finally hard clipping with two diodes to ground like a faithful DS-1 circuit.

In this video I will be swapping and comparing diodes in place of the soft clipping and hard clipping section.

Also to note this HM-2 was given the PSA 9v Mod, and a electrolytic swap.
1 Electrolytic was swapped for film to reduce the noise floor as well.

Brian Wamplers Modification Book offers more mods if you are interested please comment below.

HSS Strat into the line 6 helix, using the Gramatacco GSG amp in its cleanest form, a little bit of room reverb and stereo delay in momentarily used in this demo. ( so don't panic ) just enjoy the wall of doom! With this MIT HM-2 getting a new dew !

Thanks for watching!
Sincerely, Benny G. of the Pedal Head Show!
