The Rise of the Tradwives: How Girlboss Feminism Failed Motherhood

Has feminism failed mothers? The rise of the tradwife, both as Tik Tok influencer and mainstream media talking point, has triggered debate between feminists, choice feminists, and antifeminists as well as between leftists and conservatives. While second wave and neoliberal (girlboss) feminism paved the way to dual income households, tradwives are stay at home moms (or stay at home girlfriends) who adhere to traditional gender roles and don't work outside the home. In this video, I discuss how the anticapitalist model of tradwives stoke the ire of the progressive left, even as it responds to hustle culture and neoliberalism, and how our collective break from neoliberalism is leading to an increase in the culture war. I also document the progress of feminism from the industrial revolution through girlboss-ery. Finally, I discuss the trad wives of the alt right and stay at home moms under communism, the most extreme form of anti capitalism.
