Flight simulators basically re-create aircraft flight, artificially. Flight simulation goes back as far as 1929, starting with the first simulator created by Edwin Albert Link, named “ The Pilot Maker” or “Link trainer.” This invention kick-started the commercialization, and mass-production of flight simulation, and although this creation wasn’t taken seriously initially, it did make for a great time in amusement parks. That is, of course, until 1934, when all of Edwin's hard work had finally paid off. The Army Air Corps were starting to deliver U.S Air Mail and they were looking to train new pilots. After their own training methods proved to be very unsuccessful, they decided to invest, and purchase six Link trainers to call their own. Edwin's success only skyrocketed from there, creating more simulators, most notably “The Blue Box,” which was notorious during WWII. No doubt, we’ve come a long way since this grand-father of plane simulators that was (believe it or not) built from scrap parts.
