I Vampiri sono sempre stati una piaga per i viventi. In particolare la stirpe dei Von Carstein, abominevole discendenza dei nobili Nonmorti originari del regno mortale della Sylvania. I von Carstein avrebbero inevitabilmente attaccato da questa regione, a capo di un’armata potente di Nonmorti: Necromanti assetati di potere, orde di Zombi, ranghi di Scheletri, sciacalli Ghoul delle Cripte e selvaggi Varghulf sono solo alcuni degli incubi che un Vampiro Lord è in grado di evocare.

Vlad sarà stato il progenitore della stirpe dei von Carstein, ma Mannfred era ugualmente temuto, sebbene fosse stato alla fine annientato a Palude Infernale. Ma ciò che non è più vivo, non è facile da uccidere: Vlad e Mannfred sono risorti. I morti non hanno mai trovato riposo nella Sylvania, e ora escono barcollando dalle loro tombe, richiamati alla nonvita dall’aristocrazia della notte, mentre entrambi si preparano a sfidare di nuovo l’umanità. Entrambi credono di avere il diritto al titolo di Eterno Imperatore: l’usurpatore Karl Franz lo imparerà, e a un prezzo caro... E tutti i viventi renderanno omaggio all’Empia Maestà dei von Carstein!
