Galena, Illinois is a charming town located in the northwest corner of the state, known for its historic architecture, picturesque views of the Mississippi River, and unique shops and restaurants.

One day just wasn’t enough time to experience all that Galena has to offer so we will definitely be back. Here were some of our favorite stops while there and some that are on our list for next time. Save this list!

@galenaspoonco - the owner, Paul, was so friendly! He teaches wood carving workshops as well. I had to bring home one of his custom-made cheese boards. This shop is an absolute must. If you’re not in Galena, you can shop online too!

@galenataphouse - The owners were so friendly and it was great service and a well-rounded delicious seasonal menu. They only serve craft beers and wine that come from within a 200-mile radius of Galena to support locals.

@ptmurphymagic - P.T.’s Magic show was a mix of classic magic and comedy. Great for families and loved the small intimate theatre.

@galenaapothecary - So many goodies of naturally made soaps, hand creams, jewelry, and more.

@riverbendgallery - A photography art gallery showcasing Geoffrey Mikol’s amazing work. He’s an artist and photographer born with Down Syndrome who tells the story of Galena through photos. Another must-visit.

@galenariverwinecheese - I loved the oils you could bottle up yourself and the wide selection of wines and cheeses.

@champagneonmaingalena - No explanation is needed here. You know I love my bubbles!

@goatyogalena - I’ve always wanted to do this! It’s on my list for next time.

There are so many things to do and it’s just a short drive from Chicago. Add Galena to your summer road trip agenda.
