Reinforce your RV bumper! | A basic bumper upgrade

Here's another straight forward bumper upgrade for a trailer. Most of the bumpers on the recreational vehicles out there are just thin-wall square tube. They are very under-suited to much of the things people are hanging on them these days....bikes, kayaks, firewood racks, coolers, spare tires, etc. There are many ways to sturdy these bumpers. This method is what I would consider mid or medium duty. A light duty job would be adding some angle iron at the bumper\mounting bracket joint. A heavy duty method would be rebuilding the entire bumper using more substantial materials. This is a pretty basic design and is a straight forward project for any weld shop to tackle.
