University of Melbourne’s Melbourne Centre for Cities’ Shared Pathways project connects local government officials from Australia and China to encourage cooperation and exchange ideas on climate action. The program was supported by the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations and is an example of how the Foundation supports practical cooperation between Australia and China on shared challenges.
In Shared Pathways, city officials from Australia and China undertook online training and exchanges before coming together in two separate workshops in Melbourne and Hong Kong. Participants from both workshops were then chosen to attend COP28 in Dubai in November 2023.
The exchange of ideas and recognition of city officials at the frontline of climate action emphasises the importance of global cooperation and knowledge-sharing in the fight against climate change.
The National Foundation for Australia-China Relations is pleased to support this initiative, showcasing Australian efforts in working towards its Net Zero goal and a sustainable future.
