WALKING AND WILD CAMPING ON THE NORTH DOWNS WAY | PART 9: LENHAM TO WYE | BIVVY STEALTH CAMP

Welcome back to the North Downs Way Part 9: Lenham to Wye! An 11.1 mile section. I was joined as always on the NDW by Luke from The Real Travelling Amigos.

We had planned to stealth camp in the ruins of St. Mary's church at Eastwell, just off of the route, but once there as the light was fading, we soon realised that this would not be possible. So we backtracked for an hour in the dark along the NDW to Westwell Downs woodland and bivvied up in there, complete with camo skrim netting. There is a camp site directly on the route, but we refuse to pay the extortionate prices for the limited amenities currently available at the time of filming this.

This section of the NDW is of particular importance as it's where the route splits and you can follow one of 2 routes to Dover; The Canterbury loop, some 30 miles from the split at Boughton Lees village, or The Mainline route, 25 miles from the split via Folkestone. We chose the latter, but we will be back to do the Canterbury loop.
