Amtrak Cleveland, Ohio Station (Lakefront station) was built in 1977. The station is staffed and has four daily trains: Capitol Limited (Chicago-DC) and Lake Shore Limited (Chicago-NY/Boston).

Greater Cleveland Regional Rapid Transit Authority Waterfront Line opened in 1996. The Waterfront Line tracks separate the Amtrak station building and Amtrak platform. Although Waterfront Line North Coast Station is located only 600 ft (180 m) east of Amtrak Cleveland Station, Waterfront Line trains stop at Amtrak Station upon request.
