संत योहन रचित सुसमाचार अध्याय 10 में बहुत ही प्रसिद्ध भला गड़ेरिया का प्रवचन है। लगभग हर अध्याय में प्रभु के बारे में लोगों के बीच में मतभेद का वर्णन है। उसी प्रकार संत योहन रचित सुसमाचार अध्याय 10 में भी ऐसे ही मतभेद है।

गड़ेरिया और उसकी भेड़ें - प्रभु येसु गड़ेरिया के कुछ गुणों का वर्णन करते हैं। वह फाटक से प्रवेश करता, उसकी भेड़ें उसकी आवाज पहचानती हैं और वह भेड़ों के आगे-आगे चलता है।

मैं भेड़शाला का द्वार हूँ - प्रभु ही मार्ग हैं और भेड़शाला का द्वार भी। जीवन में प्रवेश करने उन्हीं से हो कर जाना पड़ेगा।

भला गड़ेरिया मैं हूँ - भला गडरिया की पहचान यह है कि वह अपनी भेड़ों को जानता और उनके लिए अपना प्राण दे देता है। प्रभु की मृत्यु कोई हत्या नहीं, बल्कि बलिदान है। क्योंकि वह स्वयं स्वेच्छा से अपना प्राण दे देता है।

नोट :- प्रभु दुनिया के राजाओं के समान नहीं हैं बल्कि वह चरवाहा है। इस अध्याय में
भला चरवाहे के बारे में जो वर्णन है, यही "ख्रीस्त राजा" के बारे में भी है। प्रभु येसु के लिए "राजा" और "चरवाहा" दोनों शब्दों को एक दूसरे के लिए हम प्रयोग कर सकते हैं। इसी सन्दर्भ में हमें स्तोत्र ग्रन्थ अध्याय 23 को पढ़ना चाहिए।

यहूदियों में मतभेद - संत योहन रचित सुसमाचार में प्रभु के हर चिन्ह (चमत्कार) और प्रवचन के बाद लोगों में मतभेद को देखा जा सकता है। कुछ लोग प्रभु के पक्ष में और कुछ विरुद्ध हो जाते हैं। और कोई भी उनसे अछूता नहीं रह सकता।

येरूसालेम में प्रतिष्ठान-पर्व - प्रभु और यहूदियों के बीच का टकराव और भी गहरा होता जाता है। प्रभु ईश्वर के बराबरी होने का दावा और जोरों से करने लगते हैं जो यहूदियों के लिए ईश-निंदा है। वास्तव में यह भी एक दोष है जिसके लिए प्रभु को मृत्यु-दंड दिया गया था।

यर्दन के उस पार - प्रभु यहूदियों से बचकर यर्दन के उस पार चले जाते हैं। यहाँ येरूसालेम के विपरीत, बहुत सारे लोग प्रभु येसु में विश्वास करने लगते हैं।
