BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. -- The high school graduation season is upon us, and one graduating class will enter the next phase of their education, two years ahead of the curve.

The Buncombe County Early College graduating class practiced walking up, shaking hands and receiving not just their high school diplomas, but also their associates degree.

The students got a jump on college by being able to take two years worth of college classes while still in high school. They say it's worth the extra effort.

"It's definitely for those people who want to work hard," student Michaela Pascarif said. "It's not a school you can just slack off. They tell you that it's hard work and it really is hard work but it's a wonderful experience."

The Buncombe County Early College graduation ceremony begins at 7 at the Ferguson Auditorium at AB Tech.
