First make up some salt dough:
125g plain flour
70g salt
water

Mix the ingredients adding water until you get a firm smooth dough. Split into two lumps.

Mix one lump with black food colouring, the other lump with red/yellow food colouring.

Roll the red mixture into small red beads to look like amber.

Use a skewer to make holes through the beads.

Roll the grey mixture into a flat sheet and using a lid about 1.5cm round cut lots of small discs out to look like shale beads. Use a skewer to put a hole in each disc.

Put them in the oven at 180 Celsius. The red beads will probably need 10-15 mins to cook, the thinner grey beads will probably need around 5-10 mins.

Whilst they are cooking wrap a piece of pasta tube in tin foil to look like the tin bead.

When cooked remove from oven and cool. Assemble necklace by threading onto a thin string.
