Alton Towers Haunted House — May 1992 POV

This is the only on-ride footage I've ever found of the Haunted House in its opening year. Here it is unedited with the original in-camera sound. Bear in mind this was recorded on a VHS camera so it's mostly too dark to see!

There had already been a round of changes when this was recorded but before more was altered that summer. No full video has ever been found of the very first version of the ride. Over the next 2 years the original fantasy style was changed almost entirely.

For those interested, here's the all the changes listed at the time this was recorded:
Most figures that were originally UV now repainted and relit tungsten as jumpscares (giant fingers, smaller spiders, troll, column monster, serpent, gargoyle monster)
Giant spider original animation de-activated
Flying ghost can be heard but is likely de-activated
2 extra screaming heads added and bridge monster relocated from swamp
Witch in tomb replacing bridge monster
Added scenery/detail to scenes
