Andy Ezeilo, from the East London Church of Christ, talks about the Jesus who disrupts our religious thinking. Using the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) and Jesus' interaction with the expert in the law, Andy shares his thoughts:
Jesus did not answer his (the expert in the law) question directly but took him on a journey/experience
He was forced to rethink his understanding of scripture
He was confronted with deeprooted incorrect religious beliefs (traditions?)
Jesus expected him to reflect on the issue
Jesus disrupted the man's religion
Jesus called him to see how he could change
Jesus gave clear instructions a tthe end
This disruption must have been extremely uncomfortable for the expert in the law

Why did Jesus do this?
To warn of the dangers of our being religious
To expose hypocrisy (in us)
To expose and break down the barriers that divide us
To be like him in caring for the marginalised
To show us what we need to become

And then asks the questions of us:
How do you read it?
How do you process challenges to your deep rooted beliefs?
What can you do to overcome things that divide us?
What part does love play as we embrace disruption?
