In this video we’re going to give you 4 tips on how to improve email open rates.

Number one, figure out your timing. Not every day is built the same when it comes to email open rates.

These days, data suggests that the highest open rates happen on emails sent Tuesday and Thursday, while the lowest open rates happen on emails sent on Saturday.

Remember, the “Rules” are just a starting point. Be sure to test so you can build your own data and draw your own conclusions.

Number two, use triggered emails. A triggered email happens when a user completes or DOESN’T complete a certain action. Four kinds of triggers can be:

Action started. Action completed. Time since action started, without completion. And time since action completed, without conversion or next action.

Number three. Write more sequences with fewer emails. Historically drip campaigns involved a lot of emails over a lot of time, and the risk is the farther you are from the initial action, such as someone signing up for your mailing list, the less relevant each email you send in the future can become.

Triggered sequences however are extremely relevant, because they’re related to whatever trigger has been set off by a user’s action or inaction. If you have more sequences built around user behavior, the emails will be of higher relevance, and should see higher open rates as a result. We recommend keeping these sequences shorter than 3 days.

Number four. Create a map of the triggers you collect from your client or team. When you understand the key actions your prospect is supposed to be taking. Then you can write emails for that action, and sequences wherever absolutely necessary.
