Jaylen Fleer, a former San Diego sheriff’s deputy pleaded guilty to 20 felony and misdemeanor charges involving acts with an underage girl. Jalen Fleer received a 12-year prison sentence. Jaylen Devon Fleer, 27, formerly a member of the county sheriff’s jail and court-services unit, was arrested following an investigation that revealed he had engaged in acts with a 14-year-old girl. He also had contacted numerous other underage girls over social media with aims of meeting up.
The case involved four victims between the ages of 12 and 14, but prosecutors allege Fleer contacted more than 40 others who described themselves as minors. The Deputy District Attorney said Fleer sought out young girls, offered them money in order to coax them into meeting with him, and encouraged the girls to arrange for their young friends to meet him.

John Oliver on police interrogations: ‘If they have decided you are guilty, you’re in big trouble’. The modern practice of police interrogations in the US developed after a 1936 supreme court ruling outlawing physical coercion. The most popular now is the Reid Technique, which has “influenced nearly every aspect of modern police interrogations”, according to a 2013 New Yorker investigation. “The Reid Technique has become one of those things that just culturally comes with being a cop,” Oliver explained. “You know, like their fondness for donuts...”
