Pretty terrible weather, especially in the morning. Rainy and cold.

Built the south pony wall for the loft to brace the central post for the ridge beam. I will move the stairs a little south I think so the south side hand railing connects straight to the central post, this will also improve the headroom a little bit at the top of the stairs. The north pony wall can then be placed to accept the north railing. The pony walls outer ends meet up with a rafter so the north one in particular can have some lateral bracing. If I add knee walls to the loft space that can brace the pony walls too, but that isn't structurally required for this roof and would enclose the space a bit that otherwise is useful storage.

Erected the ridge beam post in the west gable wall and braced it temporarily until the dropped gable frame goes in. Trimmed both posts to length and installed the wood connector plates at the central post where the ridge beam splice will be supported directly over the post. The beam plys were then cut and installed and the plywood cores added and everything laminated together.

I need to stop procrastinating the gable framing. I'll touch up the template rafter then cut enough rafters to make the field measurement and placement of the lookouts easy. The gable frame looks fine in CAD, I just need to actually cut and place it. I need to add at least once piece of sheathing on the north and south walls before I can place the 1st common rafter to butt the lookouts up to and hang the fly rafters on the gable overhang.
