2026 Kia Sportage World Premiere

The 2026 Kia Sportage is set to make waves at the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show with a refreshed design and an array of technological enhancements. While the updated model has already debuted in South Korea, the North American version brings similar styling updates and a host of new features to enhance its appeal.

The most noticeable change lies in the front-end design. Kia's "opposites united" design language now dominates the grille and headlight area with straighter, vertical lines. This replaces the previous model’s zig-zagging boomerang-shaped running lights, creating a more streamlined and upright look. At the rear, the tail lights feature revised internal structures, and the bumpers showcase subtle trim updates. Buyers will also find a selection of fresh wheels ranging from 17 to 19 inches.

Inside, the Sportage boasts a cleaner dashboard layout highlighted by dual 12.3-inch digital displays housed within a single panel, standard across all trims. These screens curve slightly toward the driver for better usability. Standard features now include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a smart key that offers remote start functionality. Kia’s Digital Key 2.0, which enables drivers to use their smartphone as a key, is an available option.

Powertrain options remain largely unchanged, with some notable enhancements. The Sportage Hybrid gains a slight increase in power, offering 231 horsepower from its turbocharged 1.6-liter engine paired with a mild-hybrid motor. The plug-in hybrid version now delivers 268 horsepower. Meanwhile, the standard gasoline engine continues with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder generating 187 horsepower.

The lineup introduces two new trims for the hybrid model. The S trim features black exterior accents and 18-inch wheels, while the X-Line adds luxury touches such as a power liftgate and premium materials. Safety advancements include standard automatic emergency braking and optional forward collision avoidance.

The 2026 Kia Sportage will hit dealerships in late spring 2025, with pricing details to follow.
