About Okayama University Symphony Orchestra

Okayama University Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra which was established more than 65 years ago. Members are collage students studying at various departments and many students start to learn their instruments at the university. In four years, these newbies take main roles of the orchestra as principals of each part. In order to make it possible, the orchestra established a training system "Okadai-Method". This method includes how to train beginners in short period, how to make good harmony in string section and winds section separately, then unify them into an orchestra, etc. The Okadai-Method has been developed by Hiroshi Hoshina (music director) and members for more than 60 years.
