It is known that the mosque was built in 1680 during the reign of Mughal Subadar Shaista Khan. According to popular information, during the reign of Shaista Khan, his son Umid Khan built the mosque.

During the Mughal period, a Sufi saint named Khwaja Shahbaz Khan, a wealthy Muslim businessman from Kashmir, settled in the Tongi area of ​​Bengal. He used to come to the Ramna area from Tongi and offer prayers. But no specific information is available about why he used to come and offer prayers here. When Shahzada Mohammad Azam was the Subedar of Bengal, Khwaja Shahbaz Khan built the Haji Khwaja Shahbaz Khan Mosque and Mazar Sharif in Ramna in 1679.

Musa Khan Mosque or Musa Khan Mosque is a mosque built in the Mughal style in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is located near the Shahidullah Hall hostel of Dhaka University and behind Curzon Hall. It is believed to have been built by Musa Khan, son of Isa Khan. Along with the Bint Bibi Mosque in Dhaka, it is a monument of pre-Mughal architecture.
