Ingredients:

500 ml full-fat milk

2–3 tablespoons custard powder

50 g sugar

4 bread slices

Bread crumbs (made from bread edges)

Mixed dry fruits (for garnish)

To prepare this delicious custard bread dessert, start by boiling 500 ml of full-fat milk in a saucepan. In a separate bowl, mix 2–3 tablespoons of custard powder with a little cold milk or water to make a smooth paste. Make sure not to use hot milk or water, as it can create lumps. Once the milk comes to a boil, reduce the flame and slowly add the custard mixture, stirring continuously to avoid any lumps. Add 50 grams of sugar and continue stirring until the mixture thickens into a smooth, creamy custard. Once done, set it aside and let it cool completely.

Meanwhile, take 4 slices of bread and trim off the edges. Use those edges to make fresh bread crumbs by blending or crushing them finely. In a serving dish or jar, place a layer of bread slices, pour some cooled custard over them, then add a second layer of bread slices. Pour the remaining custard on top, spreading it evenly. Finally, garnish the dessert with the prepared bread crumbs and a generous sprinkle of chopped dry fruits.
