Adding an External Keypad to the Interlogix Simon XT

The main reason to add an external keypad to a wireless alarm system like the Interlogix Simon XT is to provide a secondary access point for controlling the system. This can be very useful for users with large properties or those who often enter the building from different locations. For example, if a user has both a front door and a back door in their home, they might want to have system access points in both locations so that they can more conveniently arm and disarm. Another example is that a user might place a keypad in their bedroom so they can more easily set their system to "arm stay" before they go to bed.

In the case of the Simon XT, the system uses the Interlogix Two-Way Talking Touchscreen Keypad. This keypad features a 3.5 inch LCD touchscreen display and spoken voice functionality.
