Hundreds of yellow-headed blackbirds fell from the sky and died under inexplicable circumstances in Mexico, according to security camera video captured by local authorities.

Bird carcasses were found strewn over a roadway in Cuauhtémoc city, Chihuahua state, following an incident that local newspaper El Heraldo de Chihuahua likened to something out of a horror film.



However, the reason for the fatalities in such large numbers is still a mystery.



Because of a rise in wood-burning heaters and agrochemicals, as well as cold temperatures in the area, migrating birds from northern Canada arrived in Mexico for the winter, when they were likely harmed by high levels of air pollution.
On February 7th, a security camera captured footage of a massive "cloud" of black birds plummeting to the ground and colliding with a building's roof and the sidewalk below.
Although a few birds were killed in the accident, they were able to fly again.



The cops were called to the scene when residents saw the birds on the roadway.
