There are many 14ers in Colorado (mountain peaks above 14,000 ft of elevation). While most of them are only accessible by hiking, 2 of them are accessible via a well paved road. In this video, we bring you (back) to the MOUNT EVANS SCENIC BYWAY, which is actually the highest paved road in North America, and therefore one of the most popular day trips from Denver or Idaho Springs, CO.

The drive will bring you to outstanding views of the Colorado mountains, great spots to watch the wildlife (bighorn sheep, marmots, mountain goat...), and beautiful lakes (such as The Echo Lake at 10,600 ft and the Summit Lake at 12,830 ft). From the highest parking lot at 14,130 ft, you can walk a bit (it's a short walk on a rocky path) to reach the MT EVANS SUMMIT at 14,265 ft! Note that the last few miles are only open during the Summer season.
