Vickers' Unfairly Abandoned "Tin Mosquito": Vickers Type 432

Описание к видео Vickers' Unfairly Abandoned "Tin Mosquito": Vickers Type 432

In this video, we take a look at the Vickers Type 432, a twin-engine fighter from Britain that bore a very strong resemblance to the famous de Havilland Mosquito. We first talk about how this apparent copycat came about, from an unrelated design request for a new heavy fighter design. We then talk about the several design iterations in the contest that ended up leading to the Type 432 design, going from the Type 414 to the Type 420 to the Type 420B to, finally, the Type 432.

We then talk about how the Type 432 differed from the Mosquito, in having a different construction method and in being an all-metal plane, as opposed to an all-wood plane. We talk about its sluggish construction, its relatively poor initial testing, and its quick cancellation. We end by talking about how the Type 432 didn't have a fair chance at success.
