JPMorgan went further, advising employees to avoid all international travel until further notice. The H-1B program, which allows U.S. companies to hire foreign professionals in specialized fields, has long been dominated by Indian workers, who made up 71% of approvals in 2024, with China a distant second at 11.7%. Trump’s directive marks an unprecedented escalation in visa costs, with immigration experts warning of severe disruption to America’s tech and innovation ecosystem.
