Turner's Bridge and the History of Chichester Canal

Описание к видео Turner's Bridge and the History of Chichester Canal

Walking south from Chichester along the canal you'll arrive at a wooden bridge at Hunston. This is the supposed location from which J. M. W. Turner painted his view of Chichester Canal. As part of our exhibition, Sussex Landscape: Chalk, Wood and Water, the painting has returned to Chichester for the first time in almost 200 years.

In this video, explore the history of the canal, the story of its creation, and how the commemorative plaque came to be installed.

'Sussex Landscape Chalk, Wood and Water' charts the history of artists who have come to the South coast and found inspiration. From landscapes by Turner and Constable to commissions by contemporary local artists.
