I'm not a real big fan of horror movies, mostly because they don't do their job well - they don't actually scare me.

Until I came across this one.

For the last 30 years or so, I thought a movie where your own child was trying to kill you would make a great horror film, because that's a monster you can't actually kill or defend yourself from as a parent.

Weapons doesn't take it to that extreme, but it definitely tapped into my warped imagination and uses the creepiness of children to rule the movie.

First off, again, going into movies blind is the only way to go, especially with Weapons.

Not knowing anything only enhanced the experience of allowing this movie to slowly unfold from the first act.

Which is why I'm not going to talk about the story or the plot here.

But the eerie feeling, the unsolved mystery, and all the surprises along the way absolutely kept me glued to my seat, not daring to take my eyes from the screen for even a second.

From the beginning, I just HAD to know what was going on.

And unlike most movies, Weapons didn't lose me in the third act, when everyone is fighting for their lives during the final showdown.

No, this one is fun from start to finish, the acting is believable, the direction of the film was exactly how it needed to look, I honestly struggled to come up with any critiques about this film.

And I also feel like it's very rewatchable, which is why Weapons is absolutely a Master Beanlighter of a movie - one of the best films of the year.

Check it out if you can stomach a solid horror film, if you can't, watch at your own risk.
