How to Measure Nuchal Translucency (NT) On Ultrasound | First Trimester NT Screening | Fetal USG

How To Measure Nuchal Translucency on Ultrasound:
- Timing: The ideal time for measuring NT is between 11 weeks and 13 weeks 6 days of gestation.
- The NT scan is usually performed transabdominally, but a transvaginal approach can be used for better visualization in some cases.
- Identify the fetus and its position within the uterus.
- Locate the fetal head and spine.
- Identify the nuchal translucency region, which is the fluid-filled space at the back of the fetal neck.
- The fetus should be in a neutral position, with its neck neither flexed nor extended. It's important to have a clear, sagittal view of the fetus.
- The measurement should be taken at the maximum thickness of the translucency. Place the calipers on the inner borders of the nuchal translucency.
- Avoid including fetal skin in the measurement.
- The NT is measured from 11 to 13+6 weeks of gestation and should be done when the fetal crown-rump length (CRL) is between 45mm and 84mm. - Take multiple measurements and use the average for a more accurate result. Record the nuchal translucency measurements in millimeters.
- Normal NT measurement: Less than 2 mm
