Описание к видео Amtrak, Norfolk Southern, C&A and shortlines in North Carolina and Virginia 1990

This video featured six short reports on Norfolk, Virginia area railroads for television by reporter Bob West. I believe it was all filmed around April of 1990. The six reports are as follows:

1) Features a Norfolk Southern local that runs 17 miles from Norfolk to Virginia Beach. Locomotives NS 2886 and NS 2009 appear along with a caboose and nice cameos of the crew.

2) Features the Eastern Shore Railroad's Chesapeake Bay car ferry operation with nice cameos of the crew, including the rug boat master. Filmed at the Virginia Beach yard and the connection across the bay.

3) A nice report on RailTex's recently acquired Chesapeake & Albemarle Railroad -- it's 11th acquisition. Start-up crew included Mike Ford, I believe from the Georgia & Alabama Railroad and R.J. McKay from the Austin & Northwestern Railroad. The railroad ran from Norfolk Southern's Portlock Yard near Norfolk to Edenton, North Carolina, about 77 miles. It was part of the ORIGINAL Norfolk Southern Railway. Norfolk Southern locomotive No. 4153 is featured. Has a shot of the swing span being operated by RailTex trainmaster Steve Roberts. This was filmed on April 12th, 1990.

5) Report on the Busch Gardens people mover railroad near Williamsburg, Virginia, that utilizes two steam locomotives. Nice cameos of the crew.

6) Interesting report on the coal train operations at Norfolk Southern's Lambert's Point terminal, Hampton Roads, Virginia. Covers the hump yard, gravity switching, car retarder, Barney, rotary dumper and ship loading.
