Inspecting next year’s mothers!!

Having a last autumn look at the two instrumentally inseminated breeder Queens that I obtain from Romania in an attempt to find some new stock. One of them is the classic Buckfast look absolutely fantastic. The other one is a carol queen which also looks very good but a little bit smaller and may be slightly more aggressive than the Buckfast, but I don’t know and it’s very early time to tell going into any colony this time of year may still Take some of the older bees that the colony was made with so we can’t be sure until we get to next where the queen lays away and it’s pure Bees from her.
overall very happy with the way things have gone both colonies are populous enough and Queens look in good condition as you would expect this time of year the brood has virtually disappeared.
A few eggs here and there everything is normal. Incidentally we almost ready to vape with ocyalic acid the colonies because there’s the minimal brood and it’s the perfect time to do that,
don’t forget you can vape the second and third week of December in the northern hemisphere. That’s the time we usually associate with the Bees being most broodless.
