Mary stumbles upon a shocking discovery in Dr. Jekyll's bedroom. She finds Mr. Hyde lying in the doctor's bed, and is immediately taken aback by the sight. When she tries to raise the alarm, Mr. Hyde stops her and begins to reveal the dark secret of Dr. Jekyll's transformation. He tells her that Jekyll injects himself with a serum to become Hyde, who then injects the 'antidote' to return to Jekyll. However, Mr. Hyde now claims he can appear without the aid of the serum and tries to coerce Mary into having sex with him. Mary is shaken by the revelation and finds it hard to believe, but Mr. Hyde's behavior is menacing and unpredictable, leaving her uncertain of what to do.
