Independent journalism in Russia has been silenced for over a decade, but numerous journalists, in exile and within the country, produce impressive work. They face challenges on numerous fronts: countering Moscow war narrative, reaching audiences in the era of prohibitions and information war, selecting topics that satisfy new donors and old audiences; staying relevant for those who remained in Russia and those who emigrated. Can independent media defy war propaganda and influence public opinion? Can they keep journalistic standards, or they operate as activists?
